We design CITE’s Professional Development / Parent Workshops according to each school’s needs. Our team of experienced educators works with each school to identify areas of growth, pinpoint practical skills for learning sessions, and set goals. Part of our strength is the experience of breaking down new trends or directives into classroom-ready strategies. “Next Generation Learning Standards” is one such program, facilitated by Alexis Blair.
This program walks teachers through the “crosswalks,” highlighting and engaging items from the Common Core Learning Standards and the Next Generation Learning Standards. The curriculum and activities are useful and practical, giving teachers the opportunity to root the new standards into their own lesson plans. We build a common language and set of practices.
By providing essential professional development and support to the school community, we help schools successfully implement strategies for the Next Generation Learning Standards, which will impact teaching and learning assessments across the city.
Alexis Blair is a former elementary/ middle school teacher and assistant principal. She currently teaches educational courses and mentors new teachers, as they begin their teaching careers. She is a consultant with a city university, with a focus in urban education. Alexis Blair has facilitated professional development workshops with CITE with proven success, on topics pertinent to and tailored to the individual needs of schools, for many years. She is committed to the advancement of knowledge, to supporting parents, teachers and support personnel in their efforts to provide children and families with loving communities of learning.
